Bruins sweep Waldorf

FOREST CITY, Iowa -- In the first meeting between the two schools, the Bellevue University volleyball team swept Waldorf College 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-15) in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action Tuesday night at the Hanson Fieldhouse.

The 23rd-ranked Bruins improved to 11-4 overall and 3-0 in MCAC while Waldorf slipped to 5-9 and 1-1 in league play. The win also marked BU's seventh win in straight sets this season.  

The Bruins hit .360 and were led by Sydney DeBoer's 12 kills on .688 hitting. DeBoer also added four block assists.

Jordan Broady recorded 37 assists, five digs, three kills and two block assists.

Meghan Evans anchored the defense with a match-high 13 digs.

The Bruins hit .391 and were paced by DeBoer, Caitlyn Rueth and Symone Faulkner who each pounded three kills apiece in the first set. The Warriors were plagued by eight hitting errors, but had six service aces in the opening game.

The second set featured seven ties and six lead changes. DeBoer once again led BU, registering five kills on seven swings.   

BU hit .667 and was led by Annie Benson's five kills while DeBoer added four en route to a 25-15 third set win.

The Bruins will travel to Clinton, Iowa for the Saints Invitational Volleyball Tournament hosted by Ashford University on Friday-Saturday, Sept. 14-15.
