Bruins sweep weekly volleyball honors
POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. -- The Bellevue University volleyball swept the weekly MCAC volleyball honors for the week ending Sept. 6 as senior middle blocker Jaclyn Thorson was named the MCAC Hitter of the Week, sophomore Jordan Broady nabbed MCAC Setter of the Week honors, and senior Katy Gregory was the MCAC Libero of the Week.

The trio helped guide the Bruins to a 3-1 record at the Bruin Labor Day Classic with wins over Hastings, Tabor and No. 18 Morningside. Bellevue's lone loss was a four-game setback to No. 12 Olivet Nazarene.

Thorson averaged 2.46 kills and 1.00 blocks per game last week. In a 3-0 sweep of Morningside College, she had 13 kills and four block assists.

Broady averaged 9.92 assists, 3.0 digs, 1.38 kills and 0.85 blocks per game over four matches last week. In a 3-0 sweep of Tabor College, she had 31 assists, 11 digs and four kills. Broady has a team-leading five double-doubles on the season.

Gregory averaged 3.56 digs per game last week. She had 16 digs in a 3-0 sweep of Hastings College. Gregory has recorded double-figure dig totals in seven of nine matches this season.

Bellevue is currently 6-3 on the season. The Bruins will open conference play this Friday, Sept. 10, with a pair of matches against Central Christian College, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
