Bruins dominate all-MCAC volleyball team
BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Seven Bruins earned post-season honors as the 2009 all-Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball team was announced today in conjunction with the MCAC Volleyball Tournament being held on the Bellevue University campus.

The Bruins claimed four first-team selections, two second-team honors, and one honorable mention nod. In addition, Senior \#Rachel Muller\# was named the MCAC Player of the Year and \#Jordan Broady\# earned Freshman of the Year honors.

\#Trish Siedlik\# was named the MCAC Coach of the Year for the sixth time in her career and for the fourth-consecutive season.

Middle blockers \#Jaclyn Thorson\# and \#Maureen Wardian\# joined Muller and Broady on the first team.

Sophomore outside hitter \#Kali Schnacker\# and junior libero \#Katy Gregory\# collected second team honors.

Senior rightside hitter \#Lace Puffer\# was an honorable mention selection.

Muller earned her third-straight first-team honor. She was a second-team selection as a freshman. Muller currently leads the Bruins with 410 kills and is second with 408 digs. She has recorded 22 double-doubles on the season.

Wardian, a sophomore, was named to the first-team for a second-straight season after earning 2008 MCAC Freshman of the Year honors. She leads the team with 137 total blocks and a .316 hitting percentage.

Thorson also earned her second-consecutive first-team nod. She is second on the team with 105 total blocks and third with a .281 attack percentage.

Broady has directed the Bruin offense all season, averaging 10.65 assists, 2.34 digs and 0.96 kills per game while hitting .302.

The Bruins will battle College of the Ozarks at noon Saturday (Nov. 14) in the championship match of the 2009 MCAC Volleyball Tournament. The winner will received an automatic berth into the NAIA Volleyball National Championship.
