Senior outside hitter Rachel Muller was named honorary captain of the Omaha World-Herald's NAIA all-state volleyball team while fellow Bruins Maureen Wardian and Jordan Broady also earned first team honors. The select team honors the state's best NAIA volleyball players.
Muller capped her storied Bruin career by earning third team NAIA All-American honors as well as MCAC Player of the Year accolades. A three-time first team all-MCAC honoree, Muller finished her career ranked second in school history in career kills (1,563), third in career digs (1,829) and fourth in career points (1,783.5).
Wardian earned first team all-MCAC honors and honorable mention NAIA All-American recognition. She led the Bruins with a .311 attack percentage and 154 total blocks.
Broady was named the MCAC Freshman of the Year and also earned first team all-MCAC laurels while leading the Bruins with 1,292 assists and 29 service aces.
The 14th-ranked Bruins finished the 2009 season with a 29-10 overall record, a perfect 14-0 MCAC mark and their third-straight appearance in the NAIA Volleyball National Championship.
Note: Junior libero Katy Gregory and junior middle blocker Jaclyn Thorson each earned honorble mention honors.
