Smidt signs to play at Bellevue

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University head women's soccer coach Tom White has announced the signing of Clementine Smidt (Fremont, Neb.) to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Bellevue beginning next fall.

The daughter of Caleb Smidt and Amber Beecher, Clem attends Papillion-La Vista High School under the guidance of Zach Walsh.

During her high school career to date, she has seven goals and five assists under her belt playing in a full back role.

Smidt plays her club soccer at Gretna Elite Academy where she has won back-to-back state titles under the guidance of Alan Carr.

Coach White on Smidt:

"We are very excited that Clementine will be joining us this fall. We have had the luxury to keep a close eye on her development through Alan and as soon as we knew she was interested we had to go out there and get her. She fits everything we look for as a footballer and a person."

Smidt joins the previously announced Giuliani Gagliolo (MF/Omaha, Neb./Millard West HS), Bethan Cowd (MF/D, Torpoint, Cornwall, England/Murray State), Aimee Steele (F/MF, Newcastle, England/Murray State), Lily Humes (MF/D, Bournemouth, England/Murray State), Abbi Murphy (MF, Springfield, Mo./MidAmerica Nazarene), and Neela Sukhram (GK, Papillion, Neb./Millard South HS) in the Bruins' 2024 recruiting class.

Bellevue wrapped up the 2023 season with an overall record of 12-3-1, claiming the top seed in the Continental Athletic Conference Tournament where they reached the CAC title game for the third-straight season.
