LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The Continental Athletic Conference recognized Bellevue University junior Claudia Gallegos (Quito, Ecuador) as the CAC's Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Gallegos helped anchor a Bruin defense that yielded just one goal in two games on a long range shot but closed the week with a 179 minute shutout streak.
Gallegos scored a critical goal in the 5-0 win over Northwestern on Saturday, her first of the season, to give the Bruins a 3-0 lead just minutes after halftime.
Bellevue travels to Oklahoma City, Okla. on Saturday, Sept. 16 for a 5:30 p.m. contest at Mid-America Christian University.
