Second women's soccer signing announced

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University head women's soccer coach Tom White has announced the signing of Mackenzie Poleij (Hoek van Holland, Netherlands) to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Bellevue beginning next fall.

The daughter of Walter and Natasja, Poleij comes to Bellevue University after playing her club soccer at DSVP where she plays in the highest national youth league.

Poleij will come in, compete for a midfield spot, and add more depth to the Bruin roster of 2021.

Coach White on Poleij:

"We are very excited that Mackenzie is joining our program. As soon as we saw her physicality, technical ability, and tactical understanding, we knew we had to make Mackenzie a Bruin. Her soccer resume speaks for itself and we cannot wait to see how Mackenzie gels with the other Bruins on and off the pitch – She will be the first Dutch player to represent the program."

Poleij joins earlier signee Alba Petit (Barcelona, Spain) in the Bruins' 2021 recruiting class.

Bellevue wrapped up a 12-4-0 season at the A.I.I. Tournament over the weekend, falling in heart-breaking fashion in the semifinal against Georgia Gwinnett College. The season represented a six-win improvement from 2019, highlighted by wins over a pair of National Tournament qualifiers in Concordia University and Kansas Wesleyan University.
