BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University swept this week's edition of the North Star Athletic Association Women's Soccer Players of the Week honors, announced Tuesday. Senior Betsy Fischenich was named Offensive Player of the Week, while senior Kate Petersen was selected as Defensive Player of the Week.

Fischenich found her scoring form again, putting in two goals and assisting on another in Bellevue's 3-1 North Star victory at Waldorf on Saturday. Fischenich now leads the team in assists (7), co-leads in points (29), and ranks second in goals (11). She is one of just two players - along with teammate Michelle Dolder - in the conference averaging better than 2.00 points per game on the season.

Petersen anchored Bellevue's defense which limited Waldorf to just three total shots in a 3-1 North Star Athletic Association victory. In five matches since a loss to Viterbo, the bruins have allowed just 19 total shots and outscored their opponents by a 24-1 margin.

Bellevue, receiving votes in the latest NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 national poll, extended their winning streak to five matches on Oct. 30 with a 3-1 conference victory at Waldorf. The Bruins finished second in the conference standings with a 3-1-0 record, one game behind Viterbo, and raised their overall record to 11-3.

Bellevue will be the number 2 seed in the North Star Tournament and will take on 3-seed Presentation (9-8-1/2-2-0 NSAA) at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Rotary Field on the campus of Jamestown High School.
