BELLEVUE, Neb. - Juniors Betsy Fischenich (Omaha, Neb.) and Kate Petersen (Springfield, Neb.) were named the MCAC Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference. It is the first time that Fischenich has received the honor and the second time for Petersen.

Fischenich played terrifically to help lead Bellevue to a pair of victories and continue their perfect 4-0-0 start to the season. She scored goals in both to give BU breathing room and generated numerous chances for herself and her teammates. She recorded her team-leading third assist in the 4-0 victory over Doane and now leads the team in goals (4), assists (3), and points (11) on the season.

Kate was terrific on both ends of the field this past week, helping Bellevue continue their perfect start to the season. The center back scored goals in each of BU's wins this week - 4-0 over Doane and 2-0 over William Penn - including the game-winner against William Penn. On the defensive end she led an impressive back line that yielded just three shots on goal combined between the two matches played this week. Her two goals are tops on the team among defenders and her game-winning goal puts her in a four-way tie for that distinction.

The women's soccer team will be back in action tomorrow when they host MidAmerica Nazarene University at 7:00 p.m. at Tranquility Park in Omaha, Neb.
