Bellevue, Midland play to 1-1 draw

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with Midland University Monday night at Tranquility Park.

Bellevue is now 0-1-2 on the season while Midland moved to 2-1-1.

The Warriors struck first, scoring just 56 seconds into the match on Celia Williams' fourth goal of the season.

BU evened the contest at 1-1 on a goal scored by Rebecca Fairfax off of a corner kick by Betsy Fischenich in the 57th minute of action.

Caitlin Stier played all 110 minutes in goal for BU and recorded two saves. Megan Manley registered 12 saves for the Warriors.

BU outshot MU, 23-13 and was led by Mercy Darkoah and Jenica Bloom who tallied four shots apiece.

The Bruins will travel to Sioux City, Iowa on Wednesday, Sept. 4 when they play a 6:00 p.m. match at Morningside College.
