OMAHA, Neb. -- Senior Meredith Shuman scored on a header in the box off a cross pass from Jenica Bloom with less than eight minutes remaining in the second overtime, giving the Bellevue University women's soccer team a dramatic 1-0 victory over MidAmerica Nazarene University Tuesday afternoon at Tranquility Park.
The win improved Bellevue to 4-0 on the season and marked the Bruins' third-straight double overtime win. Bellevue has won all four games this season by one goal.
MNU fell to 2-3-1 on the season. Pioneer goalkeeper Becca Skillman collected 10 saves in the loss.
Shuman's goal came with 7:43 remaining in the second overtime. Bloom and Emily Hester were both credited with the assist.
Despite going scoreless until Shuman's goal, the Bruins' controlled the action, outshooting the Pioneers 21-1 while holding and 11-1 advantage in shots on goal.
The Bruins will head to Atherton, Calif. this Friday-Saturday, Sept. 16-17, when they participate in Menlo College Invitational.
