MADISON, S.D. -- For the third time in her Bruin career, junior Maria Pinedo has been named the North Star Athletic Association Women's Golfer of the Week for her performance at the season-opening Mount Marty Invitational.
Pinedo finished second in the 92-person field, posting a 36-hole total of 8-over par with rounds of 78 and 74. The event was played at the Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton, S.D.
She helped lead the Bruins to the team title in the 18-team tournament. BU finished 14 strokes ahead of second-place Morningside.
Pinedo recorded three birdies and 22 pars in the tournament.
The Bruins will travel to Broomfield, Colo. this Friday-Saturday, Sept. 8-9, to compete in the Swan Memorial being played at the Broadlands Golf Course. The tournament will be hosted by Colorado Christian University.
