ONALASKA, Wis. -- The Bellevue University women's golf team took a commanding 32-stroke lead after the opening round of the North Star Athletic Association Championships held at the par-71, 5,842-yard Cedar Greek Golf Course.
The Bruins have the top four golfers after the first round in the 27-player field. BU recorded a team score of 28-over par 312. Dickinson State University is in second place at 60-over (344). Host Viterbo University is nine strokes out second with a first-round team score of 353.
Senior Dominika Gradecka has a 10-stroke lead in the tournament after firing a 1-under 70. She recorded four birdies, three bogeys, and 11 pars in her opening round.
Senior Allison Temple is in second place at 9-over par. She finished her round with 10 pars.
Sophomores Tylah Saifoloi and Shanice DeGee are tied for third place after both shot opening-round scores of 10-over 81.
Saifoloi's round was sparked by a birdie on the par-5 sixth hole. She had nine pars on the day.
DeGee's registered three birdies in her opening round, along with six pars.
Tuesday's final round will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
