Temple, Saifoloi move into top 10 at NW Iowa Invite

LeMARS, Iowa -- Allison Temple and Tylah Saifoloi carded some of their best golf of the 2020-21 season after the opening two rounds of the Northwest Iowa National Invite being played on the 5,963-yard, par-72, Willow Creek Golf Club. 

After posting a five-over 77 in Monday morning's opening round, Temple recorded three birdies on the back nine of her second round, registering a 2-under 34 for the final nine holes and a career-low 74 to end the day. Temple is currently at 7-over par for the tournament (77-74), just three strokes out of fifth place. 

Saifoloi is also tied for eighth place after registering her top two rounds of the season with consistent scores of 76 and 75. The sophomore's second round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 488-yard third hole. She recorded 11 pars in the second round.  

Morningside's Laia Badosa holds a commanding lead at 10-under par with rounds of 66 and 68 on the day. 

Shanice DeGee is currently in 13th place with rounds of 76 and 76. Those two rounds were also her top rounds of the season. She had 11 pars and two birdies in Monday's second round.  

Morningside leads in the team standings (574) by 17 strokes over host Texas Wesleyan (591). The Bruins did not field a team score. 

Tuesday's final round will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
