Women's Golf signs South African Shanice DeGee for 2019-20

The Bellevue University head women's golf coach Shelly Liddick announced today the signing of Shanice DeGee (Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa) to a national letter of intent to continue her athletic and academic careers at BU beginning in the fall of 2019.

DeGee garnered some valuable international experience over the past year. She represented her home province of Gauteng North in the Interprovincial Championships while also participating in the T25 2018 Teens World Championship at Pine Needles Golf Course in Southern Pines, N.C. DeGee also competed in the 2018 European Junior Championships in Scotland and placed fifth in the US Kids European Championship in 2018.

DeGee finished the 2018 season with an impressive scoring average of 77.

"I am very excited to announce that Shanice will be joining the Bruin Women's Golf family this season," said Liddick. "Shanice has a tremendous amount of international playing experience. She has already played tournaments on three different continents. We will be entering our ninth year of women's golf at BU and, with the addition of Shanice, I believe this will be our strongest recruiting class of freshmen. Our three returning upperclassmen are equally excited to embrace our internationally diverse team."

DeGee joins earlier signees Jirattiphon (Kung) Phongthanachalitkun (Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand/Surathampitak HS), Mikaylah King (Ohope Beach, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand/Whakatane HS) and Tylah Saifoloi (Penrith, New South Wales, Australia/Nepan CAPA HS) in the 2019-20 recruiting class.

The Bruins captured the program's seventh conference title last May, advancing to the NAIA National Championship for the sixth time in school history.
