Liddick signs Thailand native Jirattiphon Phongthanachalitkun

The Bellevue University head women's golf coach Shelly Liddick announced today the signing of Jirattiphon (Kung) Phongthanachalitkun (Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand/Surathampitak HS) to a national letter of intent to continue her athletic and academic careers at BU beginning in the fall of 2019.

Phongthanachalitkun is a member of the Thailand Junior Golf Circuit and has played in several LPGA Tour-Thailand tournaments as an amateur. She was the tournament champion of the CHANG Thailand Junior Golf Circuit at Panorama. Phongthanachalitkun was also the T3 low amateur at the Singha-SAT Thai LPGA Championship at Royal Hills. Her scoring average over the last 12 tournaments was 76.

"I am tremendously excited to have our first recruit from Thailand join our Women's Golf family," said Liddick. "Our team represents the global nature of competitive women's golf. Kung has experienced an exceptionally high level of elite competitive junior and amateur golf throughout her junior golf career since the Junior Golf Circuit in Thailand is modeled after professional tours. Not only is Kung long off the tee, but she is a great putter too which will give her an enormous advantage in collegiate golf. We are looking forward to Kung's international influence on our team."

Phongthanachalitkun joins earlier signees Mikaylah King (Ohope Beach, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand/Whakatane HS) and Tylah Saifoloi (Penrith, New South Wales, Australia/Nepan CAPA HS) in the 2019-20 recruiting class.

The Bruins will host the 2019 North Star Athletic Association Championship at Platteview Country Club in Bellevue on Monday-Tuesday, April 29-30.
