Women's golf signs New Zealander King for 2019-20

The Bellevue University women's golf team, under the direction of head coach Shelly Liddick, announced today the signing of New Zealand native Mikaylah King (Ohope Beach, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand/Whakatane HS) to a letter of intent to continue her athletic and academic careers at BU beginning in the fall of 2019.

King had a standout career playing on the juniors circuit in New Zealand. She was the 2018 Bay of Plenty national champion in stroke play as well as the Homelinks National Tournament champion and the New World Open champion. King captured the 2017 championship at the Lydia Ko Age Group Championships and finished runner-up at the Junior Kaimai Classic.

King was selected to the Senior Team representing Bay of Plenty in match play competition and was named the captain of the Junior Girls Golf Quads Championships.

"Mikayla has a long resume of competing in junior tournaments," said Liddick. "Her wealth of tournament experience will be an asset for her as she transitions to college golf. Mikayla is a coach's dream when it comes to having a passion for hard work, dedication, and the inner drive to achieve one's full potential. Mikayla is a very gifted student who will be pursuing a degree in Health Sciences."

King joins earlier signee Tylah Saifoloi (Penrith, New South Wales, Australia/Nepan CAPA HS) in the 2019-20 recruiting class.

The Bruins will open the spring portion of the 2018-19 season when they host the Bellevue University Spring Break Classic at the Olmos Basin Golf Course in San Antonio, Texas on March 8-9.
