Monfort leads BU to 7th-place finish at UNK Invite

Results

AXTELL, Neb. -- Paced by Wendy Monfort, the Bellevue University women's golf team finished in seventh place at the NCAA Division II-dominated Nebraska-Kearney Invite Sunday. Bellevue was the only NAIA squad in the 13-team field. 

The Bruins matched their team total from Saturday, finishing at 33-over par for a two-day team total of 642 (321-321). Augustana (S.D.) took the team crown, finishing the tournament with a team total of 602 after shooting the top round of the day at 7-over par 295. 

Monfort finished in a tie for 10th place in the 78-player field with an 8-over par 36-hole total of 152 (77-75). Her 3-over par score of 75 was BU's top round of the day. 

Missouri Western's Shi Qing Ong captured the individual title with an even-par score of 144 (70-74). 

Ivane Helias finished in a tie for 27th place with a 14-over par total of 158 (78-80). Faustina Peve tied for 30th with a 160 (82-78) total. Morgan Hazzard tied for 54th with a 172 total (84-88). 

The Bruins return to action on April 3-4 when they travel to Hutchinson, Kan. to compete in the Sterling Invite.
