BU finishes 4th at Unaffiliated Group Tournament

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- The Bellevue University women's golf team placed fourth Tuesday at the NAIA Unaffiliated Tournament at Lincoln Park Golf Course, finishing the two-day event with a 36-hole total of 671 (344-327).

The Bruins, paced by Ana Laura Gomez' total of 157 (78-79), finished as the top MCAC team in the tournament as all five BU competitors were named to the all-MCAC team and head coach Shelly Liddick was selected as the MCAC Coach of the Year.   

Southwestern (Kan.) College won the tournament with a 654 (322-332) total, one stroke ahead of second-place University of Texas at Brownsville which finished at 655 (328-327). Southwestern earned a bid to the NAIA Women's Golf National Championsihps on May 15-18 in Greenville, Tenn. 

Gomez finished fourth overall in the individual standings and was named the MCAC Player of the Year.
