BU lands Roosevelt transfer, Bellevue West alum Turner

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University head women's basketball coach Dave Denly has announced the signing of Meleah Turner (Bellevue, Neb./Roosevelt/Bellevue West HS) to a Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletics careers at BU beginning in the fall.

Turner, a 5-8 guard, comes to Bellevue from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Ill. following a successful high school career at Bellevue West High School.

At Bellevue West, Turner averaged 8.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 0.9 steals per game while draining 28 three-pointers and hitting at a 35.8 percent clip from deep. Overall she shot an efficient 45.9 percent from the floor.

Turner played in 20 games as a freshman and was on her way to a breakout season tripling her scoring averaged and upping her rebounding average to 3.7 (from 0.7) before her sophomore campaign was cut short after only six games.

Turner joins earlier signees Aminah Hall (Denton, Texas/Braswell HS), Shelby Little (Holiday Island, Ark./Eureka Springs HS), and Shareece Smith (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Iowa Lakes CC/Fort Dodge HS) in the Bruins' 2020 recruiting class.

In just the fourth season of its existence, the Bruins posted their second-straight 20-win season and claimed a share of the NSAA Regular-Season title for the second consecutive season.
