CRETE, Neb. -- Playing their fifth-straight game away from home the Bellevue University women's basketball team was defeated by Doane University, 73-55, Saturday afternoon at the Doane Classic.

Bellevue's fourth-straight loss drops the Bruins to 4-4 on the season while Doane evens their overall mark at 2-3 with the victory.

BU got off to a better start in this game, scoring the first four points but Doane used a 10-0 run over 3:27 in the latter stages of the opening quarter to seize a 15-6 lead before hitting a three with time expiring for a nine-point, 18-9, lead after the first quarter of play.

The Tigers hit on 48.3 percent (14-of-29) of their field goal attempts in the opening half which included an efficient 57.1 percent (4-of-7) effort from beyond the arc as the hosts built a 16-point halftime advantage over the Bruins, 35-19. BU was limited to 29.2 percent (7-of-24) shooting and forced into 15 turnovers.

Sierra Roberts scored 10 of her team-high 18 points in the first half as she was the only Bruin to make multiple field goals in the first 20 minutes.

The second half was played more evenly with Doane out-scoring BU by just a 38-36 margin. Bellevue hit on 41.4 percent (12-of-29) of their second half field goal attempts.

Beth Walker and Caletria Curtis joined Roberts in double figures with 10 points each. Curtis and Alexandra Bader each pulled down five rebounds to lead the team. Ryleigh McCartney dished out a team-best three assists.

Doane's Hanah Barnard night was too much to overcome as she scored a game-high 27 points including draining 4-of-5 attempts from beyond the arc. Morgan Hill and McKenna Dodd added 15 and 11 points, respectively for the Tigers.

Bellevue takes a break from their regular season schedule with an exhibition game at Northwest Missouri State on Wednesday at 7 p.m. before returning home on Friday, Nov. 25 and Saturday, Nov.  26 for a pair of games in the Bruin Thanksgiving Classic.
