BARTLESVILLE, Okla. -- The Bellevue University women's basketball team had four players score in double figures as the Bruins improved to 2-0 on the season with a 73-68 win over Southwestern Assemblies of God University Saturday afternoon at the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Classic.
The Lions fell to 1-1 with the loss.
Beth Walker led BU with 19 points, six rebounds, two assists and a steal in 28 minutes of action. Caletria Curtis recorded a double-double, finishing with 13 points and 15 rebounds. Elexis Martinez produced 11 points and a pair of steals. Taylor Cormier was the final Bruin in double figures, finishing with 10 points to go along with three rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Bellevue outshot the Lions, .411 to .297 and held a commanding 51-39 advantage in rebounds. The Bruins' 13 offensive rebounds helped produce a 15-8 edge in second-chance points for BU.
Lexi Rich paced the SAGU offense with 17 points, while Laken Ward notched a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds.
The Bruins will host Grace (Neb.) University on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center. It will mark the program's first-ever home game. The Bruin men will battle Grace at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the school's first basketball doubleheader.
