BISMARCK, N.D. -- For the second time this season and the fifth time in her BU career, senior Lauren Jurek has been named the North Star Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week for her performances in the Bruins' busy week.
Jurek went 3-0 on the week, allowing just two earned runs in 20 innings pitched while striking out 24 batters. She compiled a 0.70 ERA on the week.
In an 8-0 shutout over Mayville State, Jurek tossed a one-hit complete-game shutout, while striking out nine Comets. She did not give up an earned run in her final 12 innings in the circle.
Jurek currently leads the NSAA with a 1.77 ERA and is second with 12 wins.
The Bruins earned the No. 1 seed in the NSAA Tournament on May 5-8 in Dickinson, N.D. BU will take on the No. 8 seed Mayville State University at 1:30 p.m. (central time) on Friday in the first round.
