Trio named to NFCA all-Region teams

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- For the third-straight season, Bellevue University's Erin Sharpe has earned first-team National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region III honors. In addition, freshman shortstop Ellie Bliemeister and sophomore first baseman/outfielder Maricela Egan garnered second-team accolades. 

Sharpe earned her third-consecutive North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Player of the Year honor this season and her third first-team all-NSAA nod. The two-time first-team All-American led the Bruins and was second nationally with 25 home runs. She also led BU with a .867 slugging percentage, a .389 batting average, and 60 RBIs. She was second on the BU squad with 18 doubles. 

The 2018-19 BU Female Athlete of the Year, Sharpe finished her career with 78 home runs which ranks second all-time in NAIA history.  She set school career records for highest slugging percentage (.783), most doubles (62), home runs (78), total bases (581) and was second in career RBIs (227). 

In the circle, Sharpe earned seven wins and finished the year with a 3.13 ERA and 73 strikeouts. 

Bliemeister, who earned first team all-NSAA honors this season, led BU with 80 hits and was second with a .377 batting average, 37 RBIs. 11 home runs and a .642 slugging percentage. 

Egan, who split time at first base and in the BU outfield, registered a .357 batting average on the season with six doubles, two triples, and four home runs. She was fourth on the squad with 28 RBIs, while also garnering first-team all-NSAA recognition in 2019. 

Bellevue finished the 2019 season with a 44-20 overall record and a 23-5 mark in the NSAA. The Bruins finished second in both the NSAA regular season and post-season tournament, advancing to the NAIA National Tournament for the 10th time in school history.
