Sharpe repeats as OWH Captain, 5 named all-Nebraska

For the second-straight season, junior third baseman/pitcher Erin Sharpe has been named the honorary captain of the Omaha World-Herald's all-Nebraska softball team. which included players from all NAIA and NCAA Division III teams in the state of Nebraska.

Sharpe was joined on the first team by freshman outfielder Grace Glotfelty and senior pitcher Lexi LeCalsey. Honorable mention selections included senior shortstop Emily Gigax and senior catcher Sayde Woten

Sharpe, who earned North Star Athletic Association Player of the Year honors for the second-straight season, led the Bruins with a .409 batting average, 19 home runs, 16 doubles and 55 RBIs. She also paced BU in the circle with 16 wins, a 1.85 ERA, and 138 strikeouts. In the final NSAA statistics, Sharpe led the league in home runs and RBIs, while ranking third in ERA. 

In BU's final game of the season, Sharpe became the school's all-time career home runs leader. She has amassed 53 homers thus far in her three-year Bruin career. 

In the final national statistics, Sharpe ranked fourth in home runs (19), sixth in total bases (145), 11th in slugging percentage (.824), and 21st in total runs batted in (55). 

In her first season as a Bruin, Glotfelty also earned first-team all-North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) honors this season. She was second on the team with a .400 batting average, 15 doubles, 10 home runs, and 37 RBIs. She started all 55 games in the outfield as a freshman. Glotfelty ranked in the top 10 in the NSAA in eight different statistical categories, including second with 76 total hits.  

LeCalsey finished with a 13-8 record with one save and a 2.57 ERA. She was second on the team with 132 strikeouts in a team-leading 147.1 innings pitched. She ranked fourth in the league with 6.52 strikeouts per game and fifth with a .246 opponent batting average.  

The Bruins finished the 2018 season with a 32-23 overall record and a 13-11 conference mark. It marked the ninth-straight season that BU has won 30-or-more games.
