Bruins shutout McPherson, 9-0; Final game canceled

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Lexi LeCalsey picked up her second shutout of the weekend and the Bellevue University softball team outhit McPherson College, 8-3, en route to a 9-0 victory over the Bulldogs at the Cowtown Classic Saturday morning. The Bruins' final game of the tournament against Oklahoma Panhandle State University was canceled due to cold weather conditions. 

Bellevue improved to 3-1 on the season with the shutout. McPherson fell to 2-2 overall. 

The Bruins got out of the gate quickly, scoring six runs on six hits in the bottom of the first frame as BU batted through the lineup. Sayde Woten's two-run single highlighted the inning. 

BU extended the lead to 9-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring three runs thanks to a bases-loaded walk to Michaela Miller, a passed ball and a Bulldog fielding error. 

Maddie Siedlik went 2-for-3 at the plate as seven Bruins collected at least one hit in the victory. 

LeCalsey improved to 2-0 on the season, scattering three hits with two walks and five strikeouts in five innings in the circle. 

The Bruins will next be in action on Feb. 23-24 when they travel to Aberdeen, S.D. to compete in the NSAA Crossover Tournament.
