Cimino adds transfer pitcher LeCalsey for 2017

Bruin head softball coach Michala Cimino announced today the signing of transfer pitcher Alexis LeCalsey (De Pere, Wis./St. Norbert College/De Pere HS) to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Bellevue University, beginning in the fall of 2016. 

LeCalsey, who will have two years of eligibility remaining, played one season at NCAA Division III St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wis. She led the 2016 Green Knights with a 3.67 ERA, 77 strikeouts, five wins, nine complete games and 112.2 innings pitched. 

A two-year letterwinner under coach Steve Austin at De Pere High School, LeCalsey batted .364 over her last two seasons, with eight home runs, 14 doubles, eight triples, 19 RBIs and 32 stolen bases.

She finished with a 21-10 record in the circle during her junior and senior campaigns., with 203 strikeouts in 171 innings pitched.  

LeCalsey was a two-time second team all-conference performer in high school and set the school record with 105 strikeouts during the 2014 season. 

"We are extremely excited to have Lexi join the Bruin pitching staff and we look forward to having her throw some quality innings for us in 2017," said Cimino. 

LeCalsey played club softball under coach Robert Roop at Alliance Fastpitch, helping lead her team to a fourth-place finish in the national USSSA standings in the fall of 2012. LeCalsey earned MVP honors in six USSSA tournaments in Florida and Georgia in 2012, including the USSSA North Florida Fall Championship. She threw two perfect games and six no-hitters during the 2012 club season. 

Her older brother, Austin, played baseball at Dodge City Community College in Dodge City, Kan. 

The 2016 Bruins finished the season with an overall record of 34-20 and placed second in the North Star Athletic Association's regular-season standings with a 19-5 league mark. Bellevue reached the bracket finals in the NSAA Tournament and received votes in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll during the season.
