WEST FARGO, N.D. -- The (RV) Bellevue University softball team suffered a pair of losses to University of Jamestown in North Star Athletic Association action at Sheyenne High School on Sunday afternoon. Jamestown claimed a 3-0 win the opener before taking the nightcap by an 8-0 margin in five innings.

Bellevue, losing for just the second and third times in their last 19 games, falls to 24-16 (11-3 NSAA). Jamestown improves to 26-7 (11-2) to jump the Bruins in the league standings.

The Bruins don't have long to recover as they return to action tomorrow afternoon with a 1 p.m. conference double-header at Valley City State University.

Game One: Jamestown 3, Bellevue 0

A first inning home run was all the offense that Jamestown needed in this one, claiming a 3-0 victory in game one of Sunday's double-header.

Jamestown put the first runs on the game up on the board in the opening frame. After a pair of Bruin errors extended the inning, Autumn Wang sent a three-run home run over the fence to spot Jamestown a 3-0 lead in the early going.

Kelli Fisher didn't allow another hit the rest of the way, retiring the final 16 batters she faced, to allow the Bruin offense a chance to get going.

The Jamestown lead remained 3-0 into the seventh when the Bruins got their final chance but were set down in order to end the game.

Brittany Rheault went the distance in the circle, picking up a no-hitter for Jamestown. She held BU to just two hits and struck out six on the game.

Fisher (16-9, 1.24) suffered the loss for the Bruins. She was charged with three runs (two earned) allowed on three hits without allowing a walk and striking out six

Game Two: Jamestown 8, Bellevue 0 (5  Inn.)

Jamestown jumped out to an early lead again in game two and held on for an 8-0 five-inning victory to secure a crucial conference sweep over the visiting Bruins.

The Bruins exceeded their hit total from the opener in the first inning of game two as three of BU's first four batters singled to load the bases. However, the Bruins failed to capitalize on the run-scoring opportunity and the game stayed scoreless into the bottom half.

Jamestown came through with the game's first runs, scoring three times in the first on a base hit, wild pitch, and a two-out double.

UJ added a run in the second on a solo home run by Sydney Greenlund to lead off the frame.

The Jimmies stretched their lead to 6-0 in the third. Emma Keller drove in a run with a one-out double and later came in to score on a two-out error.

In the fifth Greenlund singled with the bases loaded to chase in a pair of runs and invoke the eight-run rule.

Hanna Dunnigan earned the victory for the Jimmies with five shutout innings of work. She struck out seven.

Erin Sharpe took the loss for the Bruins, falling to 7-7 on the year.
