BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University softball team saw two players honored by the North Star Athletic Association today. Junior pitcher Kelli Fisher was named Pitcher of the Week and sophomore shortstop Emily Gigax was recognized as Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference.

Kelli Fisher continues to set herself apart in the circle among North Star pitchers, helping Bellevue post a perfect 6-0 record this week and run their win streak to 13 games. She hurled 18 innings without allowing an earned run for the Bruins winning all three of her decisions (all conference games) and picking up a save in her other appearance. She struck out 16 and walked just two while opponents hit only .235 off her.

On the season Fisher is now 14-8 with three saves and a 1.28 ERA in 25 appearances (20 starts). She recorded 116 strikeouts in 136.2 innings of work. Opponents are hitting just .210 off the junior right-hander as she's posted a minuscule 0.959 WHIP.

Emily Gigax had yet another tremendous week for Bellevue, helping the Bruins post a perfect 6-0 record and run their win streak to 13 games. She batted .474 with six of her nine hits going for extra bases. She hit a pair of home runs and drove in eight runs on the week. In addition to her team-leading average for the week, she led the team in on-base percentage (.545) and slugging average (1.000) while serving as the leadoff hitter. She had three multi-hit games this week and posted at least one hit in five of six games. She fielded .962 in 26 chances at shortstop.

Gigax has upped her average to .290 on the season and is slugging at a .570 rate while reaching base at a .393 clip. Her 16 extra-base hits, 24 RBI, and 18 runs scored all lead the team. She is fielding an exceptional .951 having played every inning of every game at shortstop.

The Bruins (21-13 | 11-1 NSAA) wrapped up a four-game home sweep of Mayville State over the weekend and head off to play their next eight games on the road. Bellevue has non-conference games at Northwestern (Tuesday, 5 p.m.) and Hastings (Thursday, 4 p.m.) before jumping back into league play over the weekends with games at Jamestown and Valley City State, respectively. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. each day.
