Neumann, Kindelin highlight all-MCAC softball team

CONWAY, Ark. -- Senior pitcher/short stop/third baseman Amanda Neumann was named the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference co-Player of the Year and sophomore pitcher/short stop Shelby Kindelin was named the MCAC co-Pitcher of the Year, in an announcement made today in conjunction with the 2013 MCAC Softball Tournament being played at Central Baptist College on May 2-4. 

Sophomore outfielder Kelsie Bridgeford joined Neumann and Kindelin on the all-MCAC first team. 

In addition, Michala Cimino was named the MCAC Coach of the Year after guiding the Bruins to a 36-9 overall record and a second-place finish in the MCAC regular-season race with a 14-3 league record.

The Bruins had five members on the all-MCAC second team, including senior second baseman Kim Wees, senior outfielder Katie Tew, junior outfielder Alyssa Matoba, junior first baseman Katie Malloy, and sophomore catcher Augusta Ratliff

Neumann leads the nation in total doubles (22), and is sixth in runs batted in per game (1.4), seventh in total runs batted in (63), and eighth in home runs (15). She is second on the Bruins with a .383 batting average for the season. 

In the circle, Neumann is 12-3 on the season with a 2.42 ERA and 119 strikeouts in 107 innings pitched. 

Kindelin is 13-3 on the season with a team-leading 1.53 ERA along with 89 strikeouts. She leads the team with five complete-game shutouts on the year. The team's lead-off batter, Kindelin is batting .364 with 12 doubles, four home runs, 20 RBIs, and 42 runs scored.

Bridgeford leads the team with a .449 batting average, along with eight home runs, 13 doubles, four triples, 50 RBIs and a .779 slugging percentage. 

The Bruins are the No. 2 seed in the MCAC Softball Tournament. Bellevue is currently in a suspended game with a 4-2 lead in the top of the fourth inning against third-seeded Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
