Trio named to NFCA all-Region teams

2012 NFCA NAIA All-Region Teams

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- The Bellevue University softball team placed three members on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Southwest all-Region teams in an announcement made today. Senior Brooke Ellis and junior Amanda Neumann both earned first team honors, while freshman Kelsie Bridgeford was named to the second team.

After earning second team honors last season, Ellis was named to the NFCA first team in 2012 after batting .378 with 12 doubles, 12 home runs and 52 RBIs. She ended her standout Bruin career second in RBIs (131) and fourth in home runs (25).

For the second-straight season, Neumann earned first team NFCA Southwest all-Region accolades. She led the team in hitting, batting .393 with 18 doubles and 66 RBIs while posting a .707 slugging percentage. Neumann also ranked second on the team in home runs (14) and runs scored (47). In the circle, Neumann went 12-7 with a 2.43 ERA and 94 strikeouts in 118.0 innings of work.

Bridgeford, who led the MCAC with a .600 batting average in conference games, batted .355 with 15 doubles, two triples, nine home runs and 37 RBIs. A native of Bennington, Neb., Bridgeford earned first team all-MCAC honors and was named the conference's Player of the Week twice.

The Bruins finished the 2012 season with a 44-16 overall record and a 13-1 league mark, claiming a share of the MCAC regular season title with No. 4-ranked Central Baptist College.

As a team, BU shattered the school record for home runs in a season with 70.
