BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Ottawa University pulled out a doubleheader sweep over the Bellevue University softball team, defeating the Bruins, 9-4 and 4-3, Tuesday afternoon at Hall of Fame Fields.
The Bruins fell to 4-9 on the season, while Ottawa improved to 10-3 overall.
Game 1 - Ottawa 9, Bellevue 4
Ottawa pounded out 15 hits to cruise to the 9-4 win in the opener. Kim Wees, Katie Malloy, and Amanda Neumann collected two hits apiece for the Bruin offense.
Ottawa pitcher Ashley Renaldi's two-run homer in the top of the second inning gave the Braves an early two-run advantage. OU pushed the lead to 4-0 on RBIs singles Emily Fuerst and Renaldi in the top of the third inning.
An RBI double by Allie Bartley and one-run singles by Neumann and Melissa Ackley cut the deficit to 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth frame.
The Braves answered with four runs on four-consecutive hits and a Bruin error in the top of the fifth to build an 8-3 lead. A sacrifice fly to center field by Lindsey Tuter extended the lead to 9-3 in the sixth inning.
An RBI single in the bottom of the seventh by Malloy made the final, 9-4.
Bartley took the loss, falling to 2-1 on the year.

Game 2 - Ottawa 4, Bellevue 3
Ottawa broke out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, highlighted by a one-run double by Tuter.
The Bruins made it 2-1 in the bottom of the first after Wees scored following a throwing error by Brave catcher Lyndsay Swafford on a failed pickoff attempt.
Three-straight two-out singles and a bases-loaded walk gave Ottawa a 3-1 lead in the second.
A solo homer by Fuerst made it 4-1 Braves in the top of the third frame.
Bellevue plated a run in the bottom of the fourth following a throwing error by Ottawa short stop Amanda Martinsen. BU pulled to within one run at 4-3 on an RBI single by Neumann that drove in Augusta Ratliff who reached on a double to deep right field.
Bellevue threatened in the seventh, but the game ended when Katie Malloy was thrown out at the plate following a single by Kat Wardian to left field.
Kelly Wieczorek dropped to 0-3 on the season with the loss.
