Wees, Bowers garner weekly MCAC honors
Freshman second baseman Kim Wees and senior pitcher Aly Bowers helped the Bellevue University softball team sweep the weekly league honors for the week ending May 2. Wees was named the MCAC Player of the Week, while Bowers earned MCAC Pitcher of the Week honors.

Wees led the Bruins to a 4-0 record last week by going 7-for-14 at the plate with two homers and seven RBIs. In a 4-0 win at Buena Vista, she went 2-for-3 with a home run and two-RBIs.

Bowers posted a 3-0 record last week with a 1.00 ERA over 14 innings of work. In a 9-1 win at Buena Vista, she struck out eight batters and allowed just two hits in the 5-inning victory. For the week, Bowers had 17 strikeouts.

Bellevue, the 2010 MCAC regular season champion, is 29-14 overall. The Bruins finished the conference season with an undefeated 10-0 record and will host the 2010 MCAC Tournament this Thursday and Friday, May 6-7 at Haworth Park.
