CONWAY, Ark -- Despite outhitting Texas Wesleyan, the Bellevue University softball team stranded eight baserunners and committed four fielding errors in a 4-1 loss in the Bruins' final game of the Central Baptist College February Meltdown Sunday afternoon.
With the loss, Bellevue, which outhit the Rams 8-7, fell to 1-4 on the season while Texas Wesleyan improved to 5-5 overall.
Junior Jessica Guyle led the Bruins at the plate, going 2-for-4 while scoring Bellevue's only run in the bottom of the third inning as sophomore Brooke Ellis drove her in on a fielder's choice.
With the score tied at 1, TWU scored three runs, two unearned, in the top of the fifth inning to record the 4-1 victory.
Senior Aly Bowers was credited with the loss, giving up seven hits and two earned runs while falling to 0-3 on the season.
The Bruins will next compete in the Tucson Invitational Games on Mar. 7-11 in Tucson, Ariz.
