Newton, Wooten named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the 2023 Daktronics NAIA Men's Track & Field Scholar-Athletes today and two Bruins were named to the prestigious list, Aaron Newton and Kaleb Wooten.

Concordia (Neb.) had the highest number of honorees with 23 and was followed by Saint Mary (Kan.) with 20 honorees of its own.  

Newton is a senior majoring in Computer Information Systems with a Cybersecurity emphasis and a Graphic Design minor. Wooten is a sophomore majoring in Health and Human Performance. 

The 2023 list features 805 student-athletes that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution. To be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.
