PAPILLION, Neb. -- Three different Bruins found the back of the net to lead the No. 5-ranked Bellevue University men's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Dordt University on Saturday evening.
With their fifth-straight victory, Bellevue improves to 11-0-2 on the year while Dordt slips to 5-5-2.
Dordt looked confident early with the Defenders recording the game's first shot on goal in the 19th minute. However, Bellevue quickly assumed control of the match from there.
Jeremiah Hteh put the Bruins on the board in the 21st minute with his fifth goal of the campaign. Hteh took a pass from Kenshin Akimoto at the edge of the six, quickly turned, and slotted home the opening strike.
Buster Honeywood doubled the BU advantage in the 42nd minute with a goal off a set piece. Matias Daniel-Doren stepped to the ball, 28 yards from goal, and whipped in a cross that Honeywood tipped inside the far post for his second goal of the year.
Bellevue carried their 2-0 lead into halftime in a first half that saw shots finish even at three apiece.
The Bruins continued to control tempo and possession in the second half with Dordt never really threatening.
The 75th minute saw the Bruins pick up an insurance strike off the foot of Kyi Nicholson. Ombeni Mubake played Nicholson in behind the defense, in stride, and Nicholson ripped a shot to the far post once inside the 18 yard area.
Taariq Ganga stopped the only shot on goal he faced to preserve his fourth shutout of the year. Mitchell Dryden made one save in a losing effort for Dordt.
Bellevue travels to Marshall, Mo. on Tuesday, Oct. 15 for an NAIA Top 10 showdown with No. 10 Missouri Valley College (9-1-2) at 7 p.m. before returning home on to host University of Jamestown on Saturday, Oct. 19 for a 3:30 p.m. kick-off.
