LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Bellevue University junior Edwin Cisneros (Omaha, Neb.) has been named the Continental Athletic Conference men's soccer Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
The defensive midfielder has helped anchor a defense which, to date, has been very stingy allowing just five shots on goal (12 total shots) over two games.
Cisneros delivered an assist on the game-winner in the season-opening shutout of Doane. He followed up by keeping the short-handed Bruins close in a 2-1 comeback victory over Hastings in which both BU goals came a man down.
Bellevue (2-0-0) travels to Briar Cliff University on Wednesday, Aug. 28 for a 3 p.m. kickoff in their first away match of the season.
