Bellevue posts fourth-straight shutout in Senior Day romp

PAPILLION, Neb. -- Fletcher Hedge scored 66 seconds into the game and three Bruin goalkeepers combined on the team's fourth-straight shutout as the Bellevue University men's soccer team cruised to a 5-0 win over Waldorf University on Senior Day.

Prior to the match, Bellevue's three seniors - Jared Robles, Antonio Capra, and Sebastian Zapata - were recognized for their contributions to the program.

Five different players found the back of the net as Bellevue dominated the match from the start. Fletcher Hedge getting things started in the opening moments. Caedmon Schwanke slotted a pass across the box for a one-timer at the edge of the six-yard box.

Giovani Lima Soares scored in a similar fashion in the 34th minute. Schwanke again set up the strike with a pass, dribbling into the box and passing to the middle for a Lima Soares tap-in from eight yards.

Alex Jacobs put Bellevue ahead 3-0 with his first goal of the season. David Hoti found Jacobs across the box and Jacobs ripped a shot back across goal for the strike.

Bellevue out-shot Waldorf 14-0 in the first half en route to taking a 3-0 lead into the break.

Sebastian Zapata made it a 4-0 game in the 48th minute, scoring a header off a corner kick. Matias Daniel-Doren sent the corner to the back post for Buster Honeywood who headed it back across the goal to Zapata who then flicked it in for the goal.

Gabriel Dias Juliana provided the exclamation mark with an unassisted tally in the 79th minute, beating the goalkeeper to the far side from 12 yards at the near side.

Taariq Ganga, Kaden Simpson, and Jared Robles all saw time in goal for BU though none of the three needed to make a save to post the team's eighth shutout of the season.

Kyle Pederson made seven saves in the loss as the Warriors were out-shot 29-2 and 7-0 on goal, conceding four corners and winning just one.

Bellevue renews its intra-state rivalry with Hastings College (5-6-4) on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at Lloyd Wilson Field with a 5:30 p.m. kick-off.
