BU dominates in 4-0 win over #16 MBU

CREVE COEUR, Mo. -- Álvaro Moros Sanz scored a brace as the Bellevue University men's soccer team rolled to a 4-0 win at #16 Missouri Baptist University on Wednesday afternoon.

Bellevue improves to 7-5-2 on the year and has out-scored their past two opponents 11-0. With the loss, MBU falls to 5-2-3.

Matias Daniel Doren continued his strong play of late by opening the scoring in the 30th minute. The unassisted strike is his fifth in the past four games.

Álvaro Moros Sanz put BU two goals ahead in the 42nd minute, scoring his third goal of the year with dual assists going to Kevin Becerril and Gabriel Dias Juliani.

Bellevue took that 2-0 lead into the break along with a narrow 5-4 edge in shots.

The Bruins would dominate the stat sheet over the next 45 minutes, out-shooting the Spartans 12-4 to finish the game with a 17-8 edge in that stat and an 8-3 hold in shots on goal.

Moros Sanz struck again in the 80th minute, less than four minutes after Sergej Misic was sent off forcing the hosts to play the remainder with 10 men.

Buster Honeywood provided an exclamation point with his 86th minute goal coming off a pass from Matias Daniel-Doren.

Taariq Ganga made three saves to post his fifth shutout of the year and help BU notch its sixth of the season.

Callum McKinlay stopped four shots but allowed four goals in the loss.

The Bruins next play at Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, Okla. on Tuesday, Oct. 10 with kick-off slated for 3:30 p.m.
