SEWARD, Neb. -- Carlos Orquiz scored the game's lone goal in the 84th minute as Concordia University defeated the Bellevue University men's soccer team 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at Bulldog Stadium.

Records:

Bellevue: 2-4-1
CUNE: 4-1-0

CUNE 1, BU 0

Saturday's match was the definition of a physical affair, featuring 23 fouls, nine cautions, and a player sent off after the full-time whistle.

Bellevue produced numerous chances from the start, earning a season-high 17 corner kicks in the match but were unable to solve the CUNE defense.

Despite a 12-2 corner kick advantage and 4-1 edge in shots the game proceeded to halftime scoreless.

In the 84th minute, the referee awarded the Bulldogs a penalty kick after a foul in the box. Carlos Orquiz stepped to the spot and converted the kick and CUNE saw the game out from there.

Federico Simonetti made six saves for Concordia to register his third shutout in as many starts.

Romeo Paparesta stopped three shots in net for the Bruins who are now winless in their last four games and goalless in their past three.

Coach Mark Heath-Preston:

"The team was fantastic up until the last touch or finish. The chances and opportunities we created for ourselves and limited for them was superior in the game. We have to dust ourselves off and keep going."
