Bruins fall on road at Grand View

DES MOINES, Iowa -- In a top 25 match-up which saw a pair of Bruins sent off, #24-ranked Grand View University defeated the Bellevue University men's soccer team 6-2 on Saturday evening at the Cownie Sports Complex.

Rune Peterson staked the host Vikings to a 2-0 lead, scoring goals in the seventh and 21st minutes, the former coming off an assist from Lucas Newhard and the latter unassisted.

Newhard pushed the Grand View advantage to 3-0 with a 25th minute strike.

The Bruins scored on either side of the halftime whistle as they cut the deficit to a single goal.

Alvaro Moros Sanz scored his second goal of the season off a pass from Anthony Cox in the 34th minute and Oumar Sissoko tallied his first goal of the season in the 52nd minute via PK.

Jonathan Henkhaus made a save on a Peterson penalty kick in the 59th minute to keep the Bruins close.

Jacob Gutierrez slotted home a 66th minute PK to put the Vikings ahead 4-2 before goals from Henry Schick and Newhard scored 93 seconds apart to push the score to 6-2.

Robin Balters made seven saves in goal to record the win for Grand View. Henkhaus finished with three stops in net for BU.

Coach Mark Heath-Preston:

"An unexpected start put us in a hole to which we should have easily been out of at half time. We controlled the game until the red card stretched us when we were looking for the third goal."
