Bruins land transfer from Arizona Western

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University head men's soccer coach Mark Heath-Preston announced today the signing of Aghiles Ould Lamara (Nancy, France/Arizona Western) to a Letter of Intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at Bellevue beginning in the fall.

Lamara, a midfielder, joins Bellevue after spending the past two seasons at Arizona Western College in Yuma, Ariz. In 19 appearances for the Matadors, Lamara logged three starts, scored a goal, and notched a pair of assists. He earned a spot in the 2022 Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) All-Star Game.

Arizona Western reached the NJCAA Division I National Championship Game in 2021 before falling to Iowa Western College to finish the year 21-2-0 overall. During an abbreviated 2020-21 campaign, AWC posted a 7-4 overall mark with Lamara featuring in over half of the team's games.

Prior to Arizona Christian, Lamara played with club team COS Villers les Nancy in the French National League. At Bellevue, he intends to pursue a Business degree.

Lamara joins previously announced signees Matias Daniel (Santiago, Chile), Fletcher Hedge (Beccles, England), and Dan Smith (Hadleigh, England) in the Bruins' 2022 recruiting class.

Bellevue concluded the 2021 seasons with a 16-3-2 overall record, matching the 2005 and 2020 squads for the second-highest win total in program history. The Bruins won their second-straight CAC Tournament Championship to qualify for the NAIA National Tournament for the third time in four seasons, hosting for the second time.
