PAPILLION, Neb. -- Inaki Aldao bagged three goals to overtake coach, and former Bruin, Mark Heath-Preston for the most goals in a season as the No. 15-ranked Bellevue University men's soccer team earned a convincing 5-0 win over Kansas Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon at Papillion Landing.
Bellevue improves to 10-4-1 with the victory as the Bruins are now unbeaten in their last seven matches (6-0-1), out-scoring their opposition 23-6 during their run.
Kansas Wesleyan dips below .500, falling to 4-5-2 on the year.
Andy Wilkinson put Bellevue on the board in the 21st minute. BU won a free kick that Toby Millward sent into the box and Wilkinson redirected the ball into the net past the helpless keeper.
Zach Robbins doubled the Bruin lead in the 27th minute. After an initial attempt by Millward was stopped, Robbins followed up and drilled a 20-yarder into the top right corner of the goal.
Inaki Aldao added a third goal before the half, slotting home the rebound attempt from another Millward free kick into a wide open goal mouth.
That was one of Aldao's goals came off assists from BU's all-time assist leader Millward who ran his career tally to 29 with three against KWU.
Aldao added two more goals within 30 seconds of one another in the second half to account for the final margin.
Heath-Preston scored 17 goals while playing 16 games during the 2008 season while Aldao has now netted 18 goals in the 13 games in which he has appeared this season.
Aldao now has 43 goals for his Bruin career, just two off the mark of 45, held by Heath-Preston.
Bellevue out-shot KWU 20-6 in the game. AJ Jarvis earned the win with a pair of saves and Harry Wray stopped another after coming on in the 77th minute.
Man of the Match:
Coach Mark Heath-Preston:
"The three first half set plays did the job but some of the football we played was fantastic. We just missed the final pass around the box on a few chances. It was great to have a home game and for the fans to come out and support us."
