Bruins rout Saints to extend streak

ABERDEEN, S.D. -- Inaki Aldao's hat trick led an offensive barrage that saw the No. 6-ranked Bellevue University men's soccer team cruise to a 10-1 win over Presentation College on Saturday afternoon at Saints Soccer Field.

Recap:

Inaki Aldao (16', 61'), Toby Millward (15', 20'), and Travis Hurd (54', 70') each netted a brace, and four other Bruins bagged goals as BU picked up a convincing 10-1 win over Presentation.

Aldao's hat trick was the second by a Bruin this season. Renato Silva also accomplished the task in a 5-1 win over Hannibal-LaGrange on Sept. 22.

Bellevue took a 6-0 lead into halftime. Kieren Clarke grabbed a goal back for the Saints in the 50th minute with the assist going to Rylie Young.

Also recording goals for the Bruins were Amador Rangel (13'), Renato Silva (22'), Alexis Martinez (41'), and Brannon McIntosh (87'). The goals from Martinez and McIntosh were the first of each of their respective careers.

Bellevue out-shot the Saints 34-14 (17-4 on goal) in the game.

BU's AJ Jarvis made three saves in goal to earn the win. Nicholas Martin stopped seven shots for the Saints in the loss.

Up Next:

Bellevue travels to La Crosse, Wis. on Wednesday, Oct. 24 for a match against Viterbo University (2-10-1). Kick-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. from V-Hawks Soccer Field.

Notes:

  • The 10 goals scored by the Bruins are their most since defeating Presentation 16-0 on Oct. 21, 2017.
  • Bellevue is ranked No. 6 in the latest NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll. It matches their highest in program history set back in 2008.
  • BU is now unbeaten in their last 20 matches (17-0-3), a streak which began on Oct. 7, 2017.
