Hurd takes home A.I.I. Player of the Week Honors

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Bellevue University senior midfielder Travis Hurd (Gretna, Neb.) has been named the Association of Independent Institutions' Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 24-30.

The selection of Hurd marks the second-straight week in which a Bruin has been named the A.I.I. Men's Soccer Player of the Week and third time this season. Renato Silva (Sept. 24) and Inaki Aldao (Sept. 3) previously won the honor.

The Bruins are currently 11-0-2 on the season, the best start in program history, and unbeaten in their last 18 overall at 15-0-3, dating back to last season.

In Bellevue's lone match against Midland last week, Hurd scored a pair of goals to help BU to a convincing 4-1 victory. Hurd also led several dangerous BU attacks either with his passing or runs through the midfield. Additionally, he drew a red card on a breakaway that effectively ended any hopes of a Midland comeback.

On the season Hurd has appeared in all 13 games for the Bruins, scoring five goals and adding six assists. He's put 11 of his 29 shots on frame and bagged the game-winner at Briar Cliff on Sept. 12. His six assists rank in a tie for 12th – along with teammate Toby Millward – among all players in the NAIA.

Hurd currently ranks among the A.I.I.'s leaders in every official statistical category; first in assists (6), second in points (16), second in assists per game (0.46), third in goals (5), third in game-winning goals (1), fifth in points per game (1.23), 10th in goals per game (0.38), 10th in shots per game (2.23), 14th in shots on goal per game (0.85), and 17th in game-winning goals per game (0.08).
