LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Bellevue University senior Renato Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil) has been named the Association of Independent Institution's Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 17-23.

Silva scored four goals and added an assist in two games last week to help the Bruins to a pair of victories.

Bellevue remains unbeaten amid the best 12-game start in program history at 10-0-2.

Silva has made eight appearances for the Bruins and ranks second on the team with six goals and third with 13 points. Nationally he ranks 20th with a pair of game-winning goals and 46th in total goals. He shares the A.I.I. lead for game-winners, ranks second in goals, and is third in points.

Against Morningside on Wednesday Silva scored the second goal with a one-timer off a rebound.

Silva followed up that performance with BU's first hat trick of the season on Saturday in a 5-1 win over Hannibal-LaGrange. Silva scored the game's first two goals before assisting Toby Millward on the third and completing the hat trick with the game's fourth goal.

In addition to his offensive contributions he also did well high-pressing and forcing opposing defenses into mistakes – one of which led to his second goal against HLGU – while winning numerous tackles to set up the counter-attack.
