DES MOINES, Iowa -- After pulling level in the second half a late, back-breaking goal was too much for the Bellevue University men's soccer team which fell to Grand View University, 2-1, on Tuesday evening in the Bruins' final non-conference tilt of the season at the James W. Cownie Soccer Complex.
With the loss Bellevue falls to 4-7-1 overall on the season while Grand View improves their record to 6-3-2 on the year.
Grand View struck first in the game's 26th minute on a strike from Claudio Repetto. Mike Raiola played a ball to Repetto who chipped the Bruin keeper for a 1-0 Viking advantage.
Bellevue equalized in the when Yago Ramos found the back of the net for his third goal as a Bruin.
Around the midway point of the second half the two teams sat through a nearly hour-long weather delay before resuming play with 33:11 on the clock.
Grand View scored the difference-maker in the 83rd minute after David Gomez finished off a free kick taken by Mattia Giangrande.
The game marks the last of five-straight matches that the Bruins play away from the confines of Bellevue Soccer Club. BU wraps up that road trip with a mark of 2-3-0.
Bellevue opens NSAA play this weekend against Viterbo University with a 3:30 p.m. kickoff at Bellevue Soccer Club.
