No. 15 Benedictine powers past Bruins, 6-1

ATCHISON, Kan. -- Fifteenth-ranked Benedictine College scored just before halftime and added four second-half goals to propel the Ravens to a 6-1 non-conference victory over the Bellevue University men's soccer team Tuesday evening at the BC Soccer Complex. 

Benedictine improved to 3-0-1 with the victory. Bellevue fell to 2-2-1 overall.  

The Ravens grabbed a 1-0 lead on a goal by Trayton Schafer off a corner kick by Daniel Barry at the 12:34 mark. 

Bellevue tied it up at 1-1 on a penalty kick by Scott Robson at 34:22 in the first half. 

Benedictine scored just before intermission on a heel flick right in front of the goal by Calum James, giving the Ravens a 2-1 advantage at the break.

Ryan Dickerson gave the Ravens a 3-1 lead in the 52nd minute. He scored on an assist by Adam James who sent the ball across the box on the far side.  Dickerson scored again on a pass deflection to increase the BC lead to 4-1 at the 64:48 mark. 

Lukcas Palmer made it 5-1 at 67:10, scoring on a throw in from Schafer.

Ruairi Cotter scored the sixth goal on an assist by Felipe Cepeda in the 76th minute to make the final, 6-1.

Harry Wray (2-1) was tagged with the loss, giving up all six goals while producing five saves on the night. 

The Bruins will travel to Fremont, Neb. on Saturday, Sept. 9 for a 7 p.m. match at Midland University.
