BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University men's soccer team, under head coach Mark Heath-Preston, announced today the signing of Aboubakar Tchalombo (Lome, Togo) to letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at Bellevue beginning in the fall of 2017.

Tchalombo is the son of Salif and Sahadat Akpo Idrissou and comes to Bellevue as a transfer student from Iowa Western Community College. During Tchlamobo's spell as a Reiver, he helped guide the team to a third place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament. Additionally, he earned all-academic recognition for his 4.0 grade point average.

While at IWCC he totaled six goals and three assists as an offensive-minded midfielder. At Bellevue, Tchalombo intends to major in business.

Coach Heath-Preston said of Tchalombo, "We are excited to have Abou come to Bellevue University as he can come in and make an immediate impact. He is very direct and exciting going forward. Jordan Carver (IWCC Head Coach) spoke very highly of him not just as a player but what a great character he is on and off the field."

Tchalombo joins earlier signees Andy Wilkinson (Lincoln, England), Harry Wray (Darlington, England), Toby Millward (Heacham, England), Yago Ramos (Santa Cecilia, Brazil), Jack Finocchiaro (Omaha, Neb.), Gerson Joya (Lincoln, Neb.), Alex Gomez (Omaha, Neb.), Ricky Reyes (Omaha, Neb.), and Juvenal Jacinto (Omaha, Neb.) in the Bruins' 2017 recruiting class.

Last season the Bruins posted an overall record of 12-6-2 (4-0-0 NSAA) on their way to bagging their third-straight conference double (regular-season and tournament champions).
