BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Following a slow first half the Bellevue University men's soccer team exploded for five goals in a span of 10:44 to dispatch the University of Jamestown, 5-1, on Saturday afternoon in a North Star Athletic Association match at Bellevue Soccer Club.

Bellevue bumps their record to 7-6-2 overall and 2-0-0 in NSAA play while Jamestown falls to 4-8-1 on the year and opens the league schedule 0-1-0.

Nencho Margaritha opened the scoring in the 33rd minute for Jamestown. Following a giveaway in the Bruins defensive half Margaritha won a 50-50 ball with Bruin keeper Ben Martin and found himself in front with an open net for the opening strike.

That was all the offense in the opening 45 minutes as UJ took a 1-0 lead into half. Both shots and shots on goal were even at 6-6 and 1-1, respectively.

Edgar Guzman scored a pair of goals - including the game-winner - in the victory, David Goolsby added a pair of goals, and Rob Smith scored one and assisted on another. Alejandro Pena proved an outstanding playmaker after moving into the midfield with three assists and Daniel Coupland added an assist as well.

Facing a 1-0 deficit in the 64th minute Coupland played a ball up the line to Pena who sent in a cross. A Jamestown defender missed a clearance attempt that Smith blasted high past the keeper and into the goal.

Just over four minutes later Pena won a 50-50 ball with two Jamestown defenders before sending a cross into the box. Guzman directed the ball with his head under the cross bar for a 2-1 lead and his first game-winner of the year.

Goolsby scored back-to-back unassisted goals in the 68th and 71st minutes, respectively. Guzman provided additional insurance in the 74th minute from Smith and Pena.

Bellevue out-shot the Jimmies 11-3 in the second half for a 17-9 advantage for the game, including a 8-2 edge in shots on goal. Martin made one save for the Bruins and Lasse Binder stopped three shots for Jamestown.

The Bruins return to play on Saturday, Oct. 22 when they travel to Aberdeen, S.D. for a 2 p.m. kickoff against Presentation College.
